Maria Ciampa is a marketer, writer, and future novice seamstress.
In 2008, she co-created HBO's Women in Comedy Festival with Michelle Barbera and Elyse Schuerman, and today it continues to feature the top emerging voices in comedy, as well as the coolest festival t-shirts.
Maria's a graduate of Groundlings, UCB, and too many other improv schools to list. She has a B.A. in Economics from Smith College, and just like you, she really wonders about the Fed's corporate bond buying tactics.
Maria created, hosted, and produced the podcast Wrong Voicemail, Boston Edition, with her longtime handsome husband. It's about a bunch of voicemails they got from Boston City Officials they don't even know. Maria bleeps out any identifying names, and gives them super-fitting nicknames instead, like "Chief" and "Big Guy" and "Meatball Sub".
Maria plays mob mistress “Skinnie Minnie” in the indie film Sharkskin. Cool fact about this film - the designer of the opening titles for Star Wars: Ep IV - A New Hope wrote and created the whole thing!
And, yes! You may have seen Maria for a split second in certain commercials -- as a friendly banker, concerned jogger, or exhausted, shrugging mom. She’s also been on Lifetime’s “My Crazy Ex”, MTV’s “Girl Code”, National Geographic’s “The Numbers Game”, and tons of her friend’s web series.
Now available on Amazon Prime Video, Maria is featured as Detective Bloomfield, a “gruff, grizzled woman of the law in pursuit of a mysterious serial killer known only as the Dickripper," in the eponymous indie film. So important to save the best for last.
